PM8240 as Modbus Master and Modbus Slave

Hi,

I just want to verify a potential design we're considering when interfacing with a BMS system.

We will be using Vijeo/HMI to communicate with the electrical equipment but will also provide access to metering information via a switch to the BMS.

My question relates to the functionality of the PM8240 and whether it can be both a Modbus Master and Modbus Slave. 

I found an FAQ that indicates that it can be configured as a Modbus Master to communicate with the PM5110 Modbus Slaves and if I use Unit ID 255, the Modbus Master (PM8240) will respond to those Modbus requests.

However, an online guide suggests that it can be a Modbus Master OR a Modbus Slave so just want to be sure that if I configure the network as follows (simplified), I can communicate with both the Modbus Master (PM8240) and Modbus Slaves (PM5110s) using Modbus only.

Hi @Gavin_Bryson 

PM8000 supports Modbus TCP connection as a slave Modbus TCP device with ID:255 to be polled by a Modbus master and at the same time supports Modbus Master functionality to poll downstream serial Modbus slave devices.
PM8000 also supports Modbus Gateway functionality as an Ethernet Gateway to allow communications to serial devices.
