PM8000 Sag and Swell via modbus

Hi,Are we able to obtain date and time stamped info from the PM8000 as to when sag and swell occurrences occur in Modbus

Tried looking through the PM8000 modbus registers and can't find a relevant register. Is it possible to make via ION Setup

Thanks in advance

With sag / swell events in Schneider meters it is typical that you will need software to view the events.  ION Setup may give you basic data while PME will give you a better view ot the data.  I have opened ION Setup and the view for these events look pretty basic.

The Pm8000 meter requires ION setup or PME to view its logs. Any logs will have the values and corresponding timestamps associated with those values.  The logs themselves would not be accessible via generic modbus read requests.

The PM8000 is programmed with ION technology, so only a limited amount of registers will be available via modbus.

Here is a link to the Modbus register map fior this device.

We know how it is done.  Would like to see these values in registers.

Joshua:

I would love to see all data in Schneider meters to be open to the world.  The more open the data the easier it is to convince customers to purchase a product.  Today people with to have access to data without having to use any proprietary.  Even if the event is too high speed to place in registers while it is happening once the capture is complete if could then be placed in standard Modbus registers.  Memory is so inexpensive.  This could be done in modern devices and it would make meters more attractive to the industry.

Log extraction of waveforms is available in open formats like comrade and iec61850 protocols in the pm8000. ION is another.

But Modbus is not made for large data array sets like this which have no real time equivalent. That's why almost no meters have simple extraction onboard logging published. Not even the PowerLogic meters with Modbus logs. Very complex to deal with.

James:

To get to ComTrade you need PME to parse the file code into that form.

Having a more open front-end would be better for sales.

Thanks,

Michael

Modbus RTU  does not support complex data like that (i.e. waveform, data log, data with timestamp) when come to PQ study native protocol like ION is the only answer. COMTRADE may serve but very limited when lot of PQ events occurred i.e lightning strike near transmission line the meter counted hundreds of events the meter cannot store hundreds of COMTRADE files.
