PM8000 – Modbus TCP/IP Node ID

PM8000 – Modbus TCP/IP Node ID

With respect to the PM8244, the clients BMS software (Tridium, Niagara Framework) will not allow a node ID of 0 or 255.

Issue:

Upgrading from PM800 to PM8000 meters (39 meters), each meter has many Modbus RTU slaves (Meter as a Gateway). PM800 allowed to set the Node address to 1-248 for the TCP connection.

If we turn off the gateway function of the meter, the BMS will communicate and read meter data, as soon as we turn on the gateway (Modbus Master, Com1, Node ID 1) all RTU nodes communicate, but the PM8000 data stops.

Question:

Is there a was to set the TCP/IP Node ID between 1-248?

With Firmware V4.6, I see that BACnet can be used. Can the BMS talk to the PM8000 on BacNet and the meter still use the Gateway function (Modbus Master)?

Hello @Gilbert,
"Is there a was to set the TCP/IP Node ID between 1-248?"

-No, sadly, when gateway function is active, meter will only respond to ID 255.

"With Firmware V4.6, I see that BACnet can be used. Can the BMS talk to the PM8000 on BacNet and the meter still use the Gateway function (Modbus Master)?"

Yes, meter can have multiple protocols talk to the meter at the same time.

Charles
