Modifying an external module output using ION Setup
The three external class modules (Boolean/Pulse/Numeric) have certain outputs which can be used to control ION framework operation. Previously, users would need to create either a Vista diagram with a linked control object or a custom ION Setup table view to allow control of these outputs, which during framework design/testing is very cumbersome and time consuming.
ION Setup V3.0 allows users to directly control these external module outputs using the Advanced ION setup view.
Exit any table/dialog and at the network view, display the device properties (either via the Edit menu or right clicking on the device icon).
Click on the Tools tab and switch the Device Setup to "Show Advanced ION Setup" then click on OK. This should show all the ION module types if viewing the device setup type.
Find the desired external module type and after all the modules are displayed, double click on the one you want to control to bring up the module configuration dialog.
When the module dialog appears, click on the Output Registers tab. Next, hold down the <Shift> and left click on the first item in the list, a popup menu should then appear. For External Pulse modules, clicking on the pop-up menu item will pulse the output. External Boolean modules will display a two menu item popup (one with a check mark indicating the present state), clicking on the non-checked menu item will toggle the Boolean state. External Numeric modules will display the present output value within square brackets and clicking on the menu item will allow you to enter a new value.
