Is there a way to save a .dat file for MV90 from an ION8650 with multiple data recorders? It defaults to Data Recorder #1 only but I am using multiple data recorders for Revenue load profile channels.

Hello @Natalie ,
Short answer, no, the .dat files generated by ION Setup will default to a single data recorder.

Charles

Hi Charles,
Is there a long answer that involves editing the QuickION or other program files?

Hello @Natalie
Make a master file for each data recorder, each master file is a "device" in MV-90. MV-90 Tim ION does not support multiple data recorders.

Charles

Hi Charles,
How do I create a master file for a data recorder besides Data Recorder 1? I don't see an option to do this.
I tried amending #12 to the end of recorder ID to generate the file for Data Recorder 12 but this did not work.

Hello @Natalie ,
This configuration is not something that can be done inside ION Setup. ION Setup will always default to Data recorder 1. The change would have to happen inside MV-90.
Select the Recorder tab and change the Device ID accordingly. The Device ID of each recorder in MV-90 xi is the same except that every other recorder other than recorder #1 is appended by a pound sign and a two digit ION recorder number (#03 for recorder three). For example the master recorder reading ION recorder #1 might have a device ID of PM-9601B023-02, but ION recorder #6 would have a device ID of PM9601B023-02#06.

Hi Charles,
Is this something that can be done in PME?
Thank you for the other information. We have used that syntax in the Recorder tab in MV90 but right now MV90 can see that there are the correct number of channels in Data Recorder #12 but cannot pull data from that recorder even though there is data there.

Hello @Natalie,
I am not sure what exactly you are asking for with PME. Extracting data onboard ION8650 meters and store in a database then answer is yes, generate .dat master file to import into MV-90 then no.
Regarding MV-90 and Data recorder 12, I would suggest getting Ethernet packet captures showing the traffic to/from MV-90 and the meter, then contacting technical support to start a case. See se.com for ways to contact your local support. Depending on the traffic, may be something you will need to contact Itron's support for.

Charles
