Hi All,
Maybe i'm missing something, but is there a way to do a complete download / extraction of ALL log files and waveforms, etc from a single device, with only a couple of mouse clicks?
This seems like a pretty obvious feature for such a mature platform to be missing.
The only way i see this is possible today is going to each log file, and copy / paste into excel or similar.
There is a risk that someone may not click on each log file, and data is then lost forever.
Reason i ask is we have a client that has asked us to alter every meters logging interval, and in doing this, it prompts us all log data may be lost, and a backup is recommended.
There are many meters that make up this project, some from before our time on site, and we don't seem to have the config password to access some meters, and the building manager doesn't know where to start, as she has only been in the position 18 months and cant seem to find them in any obvious location.
So i guess its really 2 questions, with the second, how to crack passwords...
Thanks
Grant

The data collection wizard should attempt to collect all available log data for that *ONE* device given what available data is on the device. It's primary purpose however is to allow you to push that data into a PME system.
ION Setup is not an automated data collection tool. It's primarily a device configuration tool which has many various other features which we provide *FREE* of charge.
PME on the other hand is a data collection system which will automatically store device data shortly after it occurs which users have to license per device in their system. It sounds like if the data is important to be collected, then the user should consider this route.
Also most of the non-ION devices you listed do not support any type of file-based storage mechanism using ION Setup (such as the lower end products like PM5xxx and iEM products).

Hello @Grant_IPACS
A little more information is needed like, what version of ION Setup you have, what meter types and firmware version.
For the data collection, have you looked at Setup Assistant -> Reports -> Data Collection?
This will write information into an XML file.
For meter password, different story. With increased cyber security, may of the old ways of accessing a meter have long since been closed off. Even options like brute force trial and error have lockouts now. It is possible that when programming the meters, whoever did the work saved the configuration file?

Hi and thanks Charles,
latest ION setup (? V3.2)
i did try that data collection thing... it ran for a few hours, and i got a tiny xml file that seemed useless, maybe i did something wrong?
meters are 7650, 9000, 8000, 5560, 5350, iem 3255's.
i think the integration was not one single integrator, possibly many over time... some have defaults,. some do not.

Hello Grant.
ION Setup has a numbering system besides just V 3.2, you would see a series of numbers afterwards, like 20091. I cannot speak to the 5560, 5350, iem 3255's meters, but with the 7650, 9000, 8000, you should be able to extract the data. If you are having trouble, I recommend contacting technical support. Be sure to include a screenshot of ION Setup options, an extract of a data recorder and the .xml file generated.
Regards,
Charles
