Firmware on ION7350 Ethernet

Hello,

Is it possible to flash an ethernet ION7350 with non-ethernet firmware such that it opens COM2 for any protocol (rather than being limited to ethergate)? We are not using the ethernet port at all.

Tech support notified me that the ethernet port is hard-coded into the meter, so this is not an option.

The alternative is to use an ethernet-to-serial gateway.
