Dynamic energy consumption calculation with variable billing rates using PME

Is it possible to create a software program using the Power Monitoring Expert software that computes energy consumption when either the generator power or the main line is utilized, leveraging a single power meter?

The program should account for dynamic usage patterns(of the generator power whenever there is a power cut) rather than following a predetermined schedule. Subsequently, these computed values(Mains and Generator power) will be used to generate a billing report that incorporates two distinct energy rates.

Hello @ajith_iqsystems ,

In the world of ION there is usually more than 1 way to do things. For example, if you are able to link a status, utility vs generator, to a digital input, you could build a framework that can activate or deactivate modules like integrator modules that can calculate energy from power. Or you could log the status along with energy and calculate the approximate usage. Just logging the status would give you a resolution of the logging interval so would not be as accurate as calculating different energies under different input conditions.

As for the billing, you may need to use the billing report to be able to have the different rates for the different energy sources.

Regards,

Charles

Hi @Charles_Murison ,

Could the functionalities described above, such as linking a status between a utility vs generator to a digital input for activating or deactivating modules like integrator modules, and calculating energy from power, be implemented using the EM1000 and PM2120 power meters?

Could you please guide us to create a program to calculate separately utility usage and generator usage monthly. And this calculated consumption need to be mapped to the bill and assigned 2 separate rates for each consumptions.

Hello @ajith_iqsystems ,

I have not worked with EM1000 and PM2120 meters so I cannot say what they are capable of.

Regarding the framework and setting up the billing report. I can give you general ideals but not specifics. There may be others in the forums that could possibly offer that service (likely with a fee).

Regards,

Charles
