Calculating Logging Storage Length in the PM5560 Datalog 1

Is there a simple formula for calculating how many days of logging is available in Datalog #1 when configured at 5 minute intervals and all 16 channels of logs are used?

Hi James,

The maximum log size for the PM556x (PM5560, PM5561 and PM5563) is 35040 records total.

In your scenario: the number of records, N=16 and the logging frequency: f = 5min intervals or 12 readings/hour

The number of records per day is R = N*f*24 = 16*12*24 = 4608 records/day

The total number of days, with this scenario, is 35040/R = 35040/4608 = 7.6 days or 7d 14h 30m

If you are logging at this rate, I would suggest having some supervisory system (like StruxureWare PowerSCADA Expert or StruxureWare Power Monitoring Expert) to poll the meter to ensure a contiguous database.

If I can ask, What scenario or system are you configuring the PM556x (in this way) for ?

Kind Regards,

Chris.

We will have PME, but requirements are 2 weeks onboard logging as it's a remote site and connection by 3G isn't always reliable there.

5 min logs is because of solar sources being measured. Cloud cover changing makes fast changes we want to see over 5 minutes.

Hi James,

What are the 16 parameters you are wanting to record at this rate ?  Can you share how you might prioritize them ?

Best Regards,

Chris.

James, the maximum number of values you can record is 14, not 16. We are working on a spreadsheet that will automatically calculate how many days of logs you will have, based on the parameters you select and the frequency of logging. I will send you a draft version and we will publish after it's validated.

And you should be able to log 14 values every 5 minutes for around 50 days.

Let me know if questions.

Is it well understood that there can be saved over 200.000 logs in PM5561?
If the formula in the first answer is right, the capacity will be 201.600?

the leaflet says: 6 parameters for 90 days with 15 munutters interval.

Can you help find the accurate logging calculation? 🙂

Best regards

Michael Thode

There has been a similar thread [DEAD LINK /message/16555#16555]https://powersolutionscommunity.schneider-electric.com/message/16555#16555. When I use the datalog calculator (spreadsheet from Daniel) I get 55 days for 14 parameters with 5 minutes interval

Regards

Daniel

Daniel Brandao

This could be a very valuable spreadsheet for me. Its been a couple of year since you posted this, so I may guess the spreadsheet is done? haha.. Talking seriously, can someone give me a link to download the spreadsheet? Where can i find it? Since it is not in this thread.

Thanks!
