Cannot uninstall PowerChute Personal Edition 2.2 on Windows 7

I tried to uninstall PowerChute Personal Edition 2.2 on Windows 7. The Windows installer log file contains this text:

tomik installation, reinstallation of PCPE requires that the USB cable is attached from the PC to the UPS and the software should show that they are communicating or the UPS has been detected by your computer.  If the computer fails to detect the UPS then it is one of the possible issue why the software installation/uninstallation wouldn't complete.  I have sent you also the guide on your Inbox.

I went throught steps You send me in fers e-mail. Then I restarted PC and

now there is no old PowerChute program installed in my PC. But installation

of newest version (3.0.2) still failed with in same point.

I have connected UPS to PC but computer fails to detect UPC ...

tomik in your case we would need to find out why is the PC not communicating with the UPS.  This would involve making sure that we have the correct cable connected, reseating the USB cable, trying a different USB cable.  We would also want to check the Device Manager to find out it the UPS gets listed on it either under Battery or Human Interface Device.  We would also try installing the UPS on a different computer and try it from there.

Hello,

I just try to reinstall APC driver. Now when I disconnect UPS - APC UPS

disappear from Device Manager. When I connect UPS then APC UPS appear again

in Device Manager.

But installation PowerChute crash again - as You can see on attached

pictures

I try UPS to power off and on, disable antivirus, disconnect other USB

devices and restart PC many time - but nothing help.

I have Windows 7 Unlimited (Czech version) with last updates.

When you look in the Device Manager under Human Interface Devices you should see American Power Conversion USB UPS

When you open that does the Location display the proper UPS model and if so what is the model UPS?

Thanks for your email and instructions Jon P, I have no problem myself as my APC UPS is an old and out dated model, but it still works fine.

I was just interested in the removal instructions for anybody else I come in contact with that may have the problem.

I do understand where you are coming from cpupro, unfortunately this is a control document that gets to be updated from time-to-time and we need to be sure that the updates are kept in a single place.  It involves certain steps that if done incorrectly would result into having a corrupted OS.  For your perusal and to subyroo, I will be sending a direct message with the instructions on it.

Something went wrong during an upgrade to the latest version and I am stuck in an unrecoverable state. I can't uninstall the old version (it still appears listed as an installed program) because the uninstaller runs but claims an necessary component isn't present, but doesn't say which or what. Nor can I install a new version because the installer reports the same uninformative message.

I would like to laboriously remove all vestiges of PCPE and reach a state from which I can install the latest.
