Good morning everyone. I got a XS 1300 UPS, and it was running great for the last couple of years. This morning the alarm started beeping and when I looked at the lcd, I noticed it was displaying event 20 and the battery was completely wiped of all it's charge...does this mean the battery needs replacement?

So, I have to unplug everything and let it charge with nothing running on it? the battery indicator is blinking...also how do you clear the event 20 message?

event 20 meants you had a total of 20 events that caused the UPS to switch to battery and/or intervene. it sounds like the UPS probably went to battery and discharged. unless you see see the battery icon flashing, after it's been charging for at least 24 hours, and you hear an audible indicator once every 5 hours, then it does not need to be replaced.
if you lost power, you'll need to wait until it comes back and let the UPS charge up to see if it just got depleted by normal operating of running on battery during a power event.

no, you can let it charge up when devices are connected and its turned on. the only issue is with doing that is if you have a power outage while it is charging with your load attached, you may not get a lot of runtime on battery because of it or if there is something else going on with the battery, it might not provide ANY runtime at all and turn off fairly quickly.
in the user's guide, there are instructions on how to reset the event counter -> http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z7VAU_R0_EN.pdf
When you are in ON-LINE mode, and press the DISPLAY button, you will rotate through the following seven groups of displays and messages. When you press the DISPLAY button the first time, the LCD is back lit, and the input voltage (IN) default screen is displayed, in this example 110 V is displayed. When you press the DISPLAY button a second time, the power EVENT counter is displayed, as shown below. To reset the counter, press and hold the DISPLAY button, and press the power ON/OFF button.

Thank you so much!! This thread helped me clear Event numbers to zero again. I thought I would give back a little to our community and say if anyone has any questions regarding the Back-UPS Pro 1000 S 600watt model from ACP, just let me know!
