I have an Smart-UPS 1500 rack mount. It seems to be running fine, however I get these strange messages in the Log:
UPS: Passed a self-test.
UPS: The battery is now installed.
UPS: The battery is not installed properly.
UPS: Passed a self-test.
I don't see that there is a problem, other then this message. As far as I know no one has touched the machine.
How can I find out what is going wrong? This UPS is in a remote data center, and I can not get eye's or hands on the machine.

Good Morning! long data post but we are trying to understand how the ups monitor variables to determine that "the battery is not installed properly". We are investigating how to monitor this alarm to notify in our enterprise system.
Is there an OID that resolves that? or the UPS check several variables (such as?)
hope i will have an answer that guide us to the light!

In order to find our if this is an erroneous message from the NMC, I would verify the Replace Battery Light indication when you get this message in question. I understand that you can not look at the unit's front lights as you are monitoring the UPS remotely.
I notice that the Card has the older firmware version. Upgrade the firmware version to the latest firmware version and see if it reports fine.
Click on the below link to view the instructions to upgrade the Network Management Card firmware version:
