I was told that these smart-ups(smart-ups 1000/1500) can be set to turn off themselves. But the document I have doesn't show me how. I have one is smart-ups 1000 and one is 1500. Any input? thanks a lot.

You will need to use PowerCHute Business Edition. Once all three components are installed, (agent, version, and console). You will have shutdown options to gracefully shutdown your server in an event of a power outage or blackout. Once utility power is restored, the UPS will wake up your server to resume as before.
Personal Edition wont work.

Hello,
There are several shutdown options. You can schedule shutdowns, or even command your UPS to turn off at any given time. This is done through both the PowerChute Agent, or the Network Management Card interface. You can also have your UPS turn off after your computer/server has gracefully shutdown. If you have any questions on any particular way to shutdown, please don't hesitate to ask.

The idea is I don't want to come back to the office to turn the Smart-UPS off that hooked up with the servers off when there is a blackout. I found there is a copy of PwerChute Personal Edition and Busines Agent, I may try to install one of those see if there is instruction on turning off without alarming when there is a blackout. Thanks. Feel free to continue sharing your experience.
