Without realtime info & power fail alarm in PCBE 8 ?

Hi
I bought a new APC smart UPS 1000VA and only connected one pc on it, then I installed PCBE8 1 node version in Vista 32 sp1.
But I can not see any real time info because of the web interface(must refresh again and again), and no alarm message popuped when power failed or abnormal. I think these are the basic function in any ups software, why I didn't fund? The OS directly shutdown when reach Runtime Remaining Threshold, but I have not save all my file yet. It's a terrible thing! No any message & cancel shutdown option. How can I prevent this happen again? I just want the function about the power status realtime update, shutdown countdown, and shutdow cancel. Thank you!

broadcast messaging is not available in windows 2008 or windows vista because it relies on the Windows Messenger Service. so if you have one of those operating systems, it will not work unfortunately.

to set up broadcast messaging on any other windows operating system:

•Log into the agent web interface
•Choose Events->Recipients
•Click on Add Broadcast Recipient
•Enter 127.0.0.1 which is the loopback address indicating the local host you are using. Click Apply. Alternatively, you can enter the IP address of the machine you are on or a remote machine that has the Windows Messenger Service and can be reached over the network
•Click on Events->Actions on the left hand side.
•Choose and click on any event which you'd like to configure to receive a broadcast message about, for example: Power Failed.
•Choose
Notify Configured Users to notify only the users you've configured as broadcast recipients in the steps above or choose Notify All Connected Users to send a broadcast to the entire Workgroup/Domain.

the only solution to having a system tray icon is purchasing business edition deluxe which is used for the monitoring of multiple agents and installs a GUI. (it used to be free but is no longer free).

i hope you are able to configure the broadcast messaging though. hope this helps!

by default all of the events in the software are logged. you can set up email and broadcast messaging if you'd like afterwards.

powerchute business edition runs as a service so there is no icon in the system tray or anything to pop up and tell you anything happened. that is where you could set up broadcast messaging to pop up to your local machine (127.0.0.1) to do something to that affect. by default, the software when its installed, shuts down the operating system when its reached the low battery signaling time which is 2 minutes. you can change the value if you need to. there is really no way to keep the computer from shutting down with the PCBE software installed. you'd have to stop the service from running or pull the serial or USB cable.

Hi
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
that is where you could set up broadcast messaging to pop up to your local machine (127.0.0.1) to do something to that affect.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to set up broadcast message? I can't find this option.
The other question is, PCBE 8 without console and it disable battery icon on tasktray,so I can not monitor power status( the web interface logout every few minutes),I think it's very unfriendly to me
Is there other way to monitor ups& power status? Thank you!
