Laptop to run Monitor Systems on multiple UPS in many locations 1 at a time
I am on a contract for a small town, I need to access a lot of UPS of various models in many different locations. They will range from Smart-UPS 1500VA rack mounts to small Back-UPS BK650MC and a lot of other models. What I want to do is run the Monitor Sytems function to get info like: Load on battery, battery status, run self check and collect any event data. I was thinking of installing software on my laptop and when I visit a location; using either a USB or the correct serial cable, connect to each UPS and gather the data, then connect to the next...etc. I have a lot of APC UPS cables from over the years.
Is this possible? What software would be best? Can I load the software without being connected to a UPS at the time? Can I switch to other UPS types?
this should hopefully get you rolling in the right direction..
for the most part, you need the UPS attached while loading the software. sometimes it wont install depending on what UPS/software combo we are talking about.
