Hi,
I received an email from our 9.2 console stating that there was a new version available, 9.5. I downloaded the update and ran the .exe, the agent upgraded to 9.5 but the console remains on 9.2.
When I start the console it says 'A Product update is available......' . The console can no longer connect or discover the agent, even though they are on the same Windows 2012 server.
Is there a separate download to upgrade the console?
Thanks Mark

Hi,
Sorry you are not happy with the changes made and the update to security. We removed the server and console and added SNMP support to allow users the flexibility to monitor an unlimited number of Agents from a single NMS and removing the restriction of 5 or 25 nodes.

You are welcome to use any version of PowerChute that you feel comfortable with.

My understanding is that the APC 9.2 console is no longer compatible and/or used with the 9.5 agent. After you upgrade to 9.5, you'll control all of the APC devices via the website that is part of PowerChute. https://servername:6547/logon will take you to the web console. I presume we can uninstall the 9.2 console but an APC tech should provide a better answer.

Thanks Ken. Do APC techs reply to messages on this forum?
If you can only use a browser now then the upgrade executable should have at least included release notes to that effect.

Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience. The release notes are available under manuals and warranties.
I have also attached a copy of the PDF to this post.

This is s a giant step backward in functionality.
It was bad enough in 9.2 when clicking on a UPS in the Console brought up a web browser window instead of a proper app window created by the console app. But at least we still had the console...
Where is the single screen that lets me see the status, including remaining runtime, on all of my Smart-UPSs? In one nice small window? I guess without a "server" and "console" that's just no longer possible.
Why does APC now require an internet-grade username and password for each UPS, even though my UPSs are not accessible on the outside internet? It's like requiring me to keep every interior door to every room in my house locked even though access from the outside is secure. I'm already logged into an account that's a member of the admin group - that should be enough.
And periodically the APC browser window times out. So I can't just open it up and keep an eye on it. Oh no. I have to log into it AGAIN (with internet-grade username and password) every now and then just to keep viewing the same UPS status web page. And I have to do this for each of my Smart-UPSs.
This was not an "upgrade" to 9.5. This was a serious downgrade.
Can I use 8.x to monitor and manage SMT1500's? 'cause if so I'm definitely "upgrading" to that.
