Hi All
we have an SUA 3000 UPS connected by the rj45 port to a USB port on our HP ML series server running Windows 2012 Server with Powerchute installed
all was good until a couple of weeks ago comms stopped working and a USB error came up
unknown usb device, device descriptor failed
anyone seen this before?
i have tried another USB port, a new cable and even another server, must be the UPS I guess, tried powering down but no joy.
is their a reset for the comms module I can try
thanks for any advice anyone can offer
Ian Jones

Hi,
You have 2 options. Install a serial port expansion card https://www.se.com/ww/en/product/AP9624_APC/ups-interface-expander-2/ or install a network management card https://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/categories/power/uninterruptible-power-supply-ups-/ups-management/ups... and communicate with both system over the LAN when running PowerChute Network Shutdown.

Hello,
What is the exact model number of the SUA 3000 and what cable are you using? The model information will be found on the bar code sticker on the back of the unit.
Also, have you tried to reset the UPS. See Schneider Electric FAQ FA156611

Ok thanks, will check the exact model tomorrow & advise.
I'll try the APC recommended reset as well and report back.
thanks

Hi Bill
I "brain deaded" the UPS this morning and comms are restored, many thanks for your help on this.
One other question, I have another HP Server running Windows Server 2016, how do I control this from Powerchute Business software to enable automated shutdown in the event of a power failure.
Thanks
Ian
