Hello all. First post here.
I have a SAU3000RMI2U and PowerChute Network Shutdown 2.2.4 running on a Windows XP machine.
PCNS is set to shut down the Window PC at 20% of battery left. I'm doing some testing of different configurations. 2 days ago, the UPS was shutting down the PC at 20% with no problem. Yesterday, and today, I have not been able to get the UPS to shut down the PC.
The IP address of the PC is listed in the client list. From the PC, I can ping the UPS. I can connect to the UPS from the PC using the PCNS software. But, for whatever reason, the UPS isn't shutting down the PC anymore. Any ideas?
My second question has to do with DHCP. I see the Management Card supports DHCP. But how does PCNS connect to an UPS whose IP address may have changed from the last login? Dos PCNS have the ability to scan it's subnet looking for the UPS?
Thanks in advance,
-Shawn

if you login to the PCNS software on the Windows XP client, what does the PCNS event log report? this can be accessed by logging into https://127.0.0.1:6547 or using the IP address instead of loopback to get to the XP machine. if that doesnt work, make sure the PCNS service is running on the windows XP computer.
also, on the DHCP question, good question. you should use a static IP. the NMC supports DHCP but its usually general practice to assign a static IP to a UPS to ensure you don't run into problems like that. also, the clients should be using static IPs and and not DHCP as well if there is potential for the IPs to change. most people use DHCP though on clients and the addresses stay the same when they renew the leases but we know that could change.
