We are looking into temperature sensor solutions and have Smart-UPS X 1500 units with the AP9631 management cards. If we connect a temperature/humidity sensor to this unit will it log temperature history? Or does it just monitor real-time and alert when it exceeds thresholds?

Data logging is configurable on the AP9631. I believe the default is every 10 minutes. These will eventually "age out" of the NMC as the storage there isn't infinite. The NMC has the ability to automatically FTP the old log data to a user-specified host if desired. You can also use an external SNMP package like MRTG to poll the NMC as often as you like and create nice graphs.
