Our Smart-UPS 1000 RM is running at high capacity (around 90% load in watts) and is due to be replaced.
We suspect that load is currently (occasionally) increasing beyond 100% during heavy operations (e.g. overnight backup). We do hear the device beeping when the HP c3000 BladeSystem is booted.
Question 1) Is output power on these devices limited when running on-line (i.e. not on battery)? For example, if the connected equipment were to demand 1500, will the Smart-UPS deliver, or will the connected devices be 'starved' of current? This could explain unexpected shutdown behaviour on one of the server blades.
Question 2) This cabinet is almost full and we don't envisage adding much more equipment - maybe another 500 VA max. Would 2000 VA be the next logical step - or 3000 VA?
Thanks!

In my advice it will be better to replace a ups with 3000 va capacity , because you have 1500 va load this mean 50% of load capacity for (3 kva unit),
it is always better that run a unit at half load, and take in consideration that you have always a peak current consumed by server equipment at start up, this peak current
can cause an overload for small sized unit.

Thanks for the answers. We'll replace with a 3000VA.
