Smart UPS X3000 "Local display button fault"

I originally posted this in the wrong discussion group.  I moved it here

This weekend we had a Smart-UPS X3000 (SMX3000RMLV2UNC) (firmware: UPS 07.4 (ID1003)), turn itself off a couple times in a room. Between cycles, it displayed an error "A local display button fault exists".

This error was NOT displayed before the first shut off/on cycle. see log below

Hi Charles -

The "A local display button fault exists" message relates to the physical buttons on the LCD. Have you ensure that they are ok and not stuck or pushing up against anything? Unfortunately this model does not have a replaceable display, so if it is a physical problem you would have to replace the entire unit. If you are under warranty I would suggest contacting technical support.

Thanks

Liam

Hello Charles,

I see from your logs that something was causing the UPS to initiate a shutdown and like you said the local display button fault did not occur on the first shutdown cycle.

What is the serial number of the UPS? it can be found on a white sticker on the back of the UPS or from the display by going into the about menu. Do you know how old is the battery inside the UPS? Has the battery ever reached a temperature over 25C or 77F? sometimes an old or overheating battery could cause this type of behaviour. Can you provide the data logs?
