Hi,
My electricians installed a NEMA L14-30R receptacle running at 208V for use with an APC SURTD5000RMXLP3U UPS. However, since then, my power requirements have dropped drastically. Now I can easily get by with the APC SURTD3000RMXLT3U. (All of the devices in the rack can run at 208V, so I don't need the transformer, either.)
Can I safely use the SURTD3000RMXLT3U with the L14-30R circuit and an L14-30P to L6-30R adapter? I would assume so, as the adapters are easy to find and presumably the SURTD3000RMXLT3U will just not use the neutral wire, but better safe than sorry.
thanks!

I also believe it will be fine but local code probably has the final say. I would assume the electrician could verify for you as well that there is no issue with doing this based on your location.
