So I've had a 1400 for a few years now and never had a problem with it (replaced batteries about a year ago). I got an extra AP9617 we had laying around work out of an old dead UPS and put it in my 1400. I just noticed recently that going into the web page for the card shows that i have a Smart UPS 3000RM, and it is also showing my input voltage as 252VAC (was looking at my overvoltage alarm) and my output voltage at 221VAC... this UPS is plugged into regular 110VAC 20amp circuit in my house.
I have little to no experience with UPS's but this doesnt seem right (the 220VAC output, etc). I just noticed this today at work so i havent had the chance to grab my voltmeter and see if it just bad readings

FYI, we were able to try a different UPS and the management card provided the correct information. it appeared to be a problem with the UPS EEPROM possibly being from a different UPS? the SU1400RM2U thought it was an Smart UPS 3000 RM 220VAC

interesting.
can you log into the management card and see if you can find the model and serial number as well as the AOS/APP versions?
* on 2.x firmware, click Help->About System and provide the information you see from there.
* on 3.x firmware, click Administration Tab->General->About and you will see from there.
i'd start with rebooting the management card via the web interface under the Administration->General->Reboot management interface if you havent and if that doesnt work, i'd reset the card to defaults except TCP/IP if you have an IP address on it.
we could also try upgrading the firmware if the above doesnt work.
that will assure us both that you are starting with a fresh card and we can go from there.

Did the reset except for TCP/IP earlier today.
Info is below:
Model Number: AP9617
Serial Number: JA0251023482
Hardware Revision: A10
Manufacture Date: 12/18/2002
Application Module
Name: sumx
Version: v3.5.5
Date: 05/24/2007
Time: 16:14:52
APC OS (AOS)
Name: aos
Version: v3.5.5
Date: 05/24/2007
Time: 15:44:22
The UPS itself says 1400 on it everywhere but the "About" on the UPS page shows ....
Model: Smart-UPS 3000 RM
Serial Number: AS0107112351
Firmware Revision: 182.3.I
As a note, that serial number matches the back of the unit, but the model does not

the network management card queries the UPS via a special proprietary link language which can also be done via SNMP.
I have seen something similar before. I think it is probably an error programmed into the UPS.
are you able to directly connect to the UPS via serial? i can provide a command to you that we can use via hyperterminal/terminal emulation to issue the command directly to the UPS to confirm my hunch. if my hunch is correct, there is no way to edit the name unfortunately :'( it must be incorrect within the UPS's EEPROM chip. i am still wondering about those voltages though...we can follow up on that after we figure out the name.
i was going to say we can use a MIB browser but that will query the value from the management card anyway, which is saying Smart UPS RM 3000.

I have a serial cable laying around i can dig up and connect.
As a sanity check I dusted off the voltmeter and the input is 123 and output in 109.7
Which, coincidently is exactly half of what is being reported via the card web page

let me know when you are ready to go.
i dont want to publicly post the commands here so please confirm that the email you have provided is correct and I can email you the instructions.
PS - make sure it is an APC serial cable, it has to be part # 940-0024 or 940-1524. any other serial cable may cause the UPS to turn off since the APC cable has a proprietary pinout.

i forgot that since today is a holiday here, i will need to wait till tomorrow to do a little more investigating but I will let you know any other details then.
