SU1400NET Overheated
A Smart-UPS 1400 (SU1400NET) showing a normal display overheated, producing an awful smell. Only one PC was connected to it; I shut it down, turned off the UPS and pulled the plug out of the wall. I removed the battery, which was so hot that I could barely touch it. It took hours to cool to room temperature.
The ribbon cable connected to the logic board behind the front bezel has 8 wires embedded in it, 7 pink and one gray. The gray one looks as if the insulation may be damaged. I've attached a picture.
I have a replacement battery, but I am not sure that I want to plug this thing in again. Does anyone have advice?
