Good morning,
I had been researching an issue regarding the SUA2200XL. I had one given to me a few years ago which had bad batteries. At the time I thought changing them out would be cost prohibitive, but I recently discovered it wasn't and brought the unit back to fully functioning condition.
It was then that I discovered the fan noise. Having done some research already, I had come up with solutions but recently discovered this post. Towards the middle, Angela refers to some firmware updates that had been applied to correct the issue. Is this only for the SMT versions?
When I look at the page for the UPS, I see firmware updates available, but when looking for details on these firmware updates, I find information regarding SNMP configurations (which I won't be using on a home network). Is that the only function of the updates?
Lastly, I purchased the correct cable in order to connect my device via USB to my computer. Will the PowerChute home edition allow me to perform firmware updates this way or are they done in a different manner? The unit's manual didn't have that information in it.

Hi Frank,
The SUA units do not have firmware upgrades. The upgrades you are seeing on the site are for the optional network card that you can put in the unit. The following link talks about the fan noise for our various models of smart-ups.
