PowerChute software download for Windows 7 64-bit OS:

Hello fellow APC fans,

I just purchased a (Home-Use) APC Back-UPS ES 750 and discovered that its enclosed CD included PowerChute software for Windows Operation Systems up thru Vista (PowerChute software Version 2.1.1). But nothing on the CD included PowerChute software for Window 7!

Imagine my frustration when going to the link below and reading that the most recent PowerChute version (v2.2) available for my model APC Back-UPS will work on Windows 7, but is not listed as working on Intel Chips! The APC PDF info may need to be updated or made more clear by someone in charge. (Who is that?)

http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/JNOE-7GSAQJ_R7_EN.pdf

I clicked on the download button for PowerChute v2.2 (anyway), and successfully installed it on a new Windows 7 64-bit Professional operating system which runs via an Intel Chip...in spite of what appears to not be clear on the related PDF.

If you are as initially confused as I was about what version of Power Chute is good for Windows 7...with an Intel Chip...go to the following link (if it applies to your APC UPS model), drill down thru the appropriate menus and sub-menus and click on the Download button to get PowerChute for Windows 7. The v2.2 download button is toward the bottom of the page, to the right side of the file date 1/15/2009: (The date of this forum posting is 10/5/10.)

It worked (and still works well) for me. Best wishes.

Thanks voidstar,

When I first saw the check mark missing under the Intel column for Windows 7...I was confused, thinking PowerChute v2.2 is not a candidate for working on my Windows 7 (64-bit). But, a download and installation of 2.2 has everything working well, anyway.

That is indeed very misleading; the brochure is talking about Intel vs PowerPC Macintoshes. 32-bit x86 chips from Intel and AMD running Windows are listed as x86.
