Manage 2x Smart-UPS on same Windows Server
Hi Guys,
I have a Windows 2012 R2 server with PowerChute Business Edition installed and 2x Smart-UPS 1500 plugged in via USB.
I can see both UPSs in device manager, but can only seem to manage one via the software, surely this cant be right? My other hardware on site is running ESXi so I cannot install another instance of PowerChute, and regardless, I'd like it to be centrally managed.
Can anyone help?

That seems a little poor given that its a limitation of the software, I'd have thought APC would have the foresight to allow for this.
Oh well.

Hi,
PowerChute Business Edition can only communicate with 1 UPS at a time. To manage the UPS and have PowerChute listen to multiple UPS you should install Network Management Cards (NMC) in each UPS (SKU AP9630 or AP9631). With the NMCs you will PowerChute Network Shutdown on the system and it will listen to each UPS. The management of the UPS will be done through the NMC web interface.
You will find information on the NMC at http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=98
You will find information on PowerChute Network Shutdown at http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=127
