As my avast keeps on scanning after scanning every single second from the energy usage log...
Even from playing a game, the avast wouldn't keep on scanning every second, the only way for me to turn it off was shut down the data service.
I recently already done a search but didn't find a answer from it.

we can see if we can install avast to see what is going on but i guess i am wondering one thing - is it telling you there is a problem with this file and giving you a warning that it is harmful? or is it just that avast is constantly using the cpu and scanning.

Avast isn't showing up a problem, avast is constantly using scanning that file.. It's just doing a regular scanning, also this is free ware from avast of course.
What I gather from using avast, everything scans when a program is being executing, scan scripts and dll when loading, opening, writing and attaching but I turn off attaching.
From having APC Data Service disabled, that file isn't scanned but everything else still works such as the software still gets info from the apc hardware source. While I did enable APC Data Service again, the file was scanned just once then stopped but now I am seeing activity with that file.
While the service was disabled the scanned files was about 220 once I enable the service again the file boost up the scanned files at 268, I also notice that Data APC service %15 CPU in task manager. Which isn't much, although I haven't tried doing a scan yet.
What I don't understand I had other programs running before was only scanned once. I even have threatfire which is running in the background same for superantispyware.
Edit I found the source, I believe I did.. While I was unchecked everything I had one thing checked (scan files when writing) which is (scan files with default extensions) I don't have scan all files checked because I know everything would slow down when it's modified or created.
I hope this helps.

I'm not familiar with AVAST but many AV products can exclude particular files, directories, and processes from the scan. That might help you.

I am gonna try that, I had never even thought of that. Nicely well done man, I am gonna try that and see what happens.
It works, as that file is exclusive to the file system scan now the cpu % is at 2 for dataserv.. Thank you two.

can you be a little more specific on what exactly you had to disable to prevent avast from constantly scanning? are we dealing with powerchute personal edition or powerchute business edition? thanks.

Virus scanner = avast 6.0.1091
Windows= windows 7 home premium service pack 1
Powerchute personal edition- 3.0 the new updated one as you previously helped
Problem= C:\Program Files\APC\APC PowerChute Personal Edition\EnergyLog.mdb avast file system keeps scanning
Details=
while powerchute personal edition isn't disabled, the avast does file system scanning seams like every second to me. Although I had clicked everything off regarding avast file system which didn't work.. While I did disable Avast File System the energylog.mdb was not giving avast a effect anymore.
Last time it was scanning C:\Program Files\APC\APC PowerChute Personal Edition\EnergyLog.mdb it went up to 400 scanned files.
The previously version of powerchute personal edition did not gave me any problems regarding avast 6.0
I hope that help, but of course if you intend to want more information please fill free to ask.
