So I bought a secondhand AP9630 and it has AOS/SUMX 5.1.3 and Bootmon 1.0.1. I was able to get the Bootmon updated to 1.0.2, then getting the AOS updated was a bit of a fight. I had to upload the 5.1.7 AOS file several times and wait for the reboot before it actually updated. However, I think it replaced SUMX 5.1.3 with AOS 5.1.7 by accident:

Bootmon: bootmon:v1.0.1
AOS: aos:v5.1.7
App: aos:v5.1.7
And now, any attempt to copy the 5.1.7 SUMX file over isn't working. Both FTP and SCP terminate the connection abruptly. I'll keep playing with it, but in the meantime, what are my options?

which documentation did you check? our FTP instructions indicate to do the bin command to force a binary transfer mode I believe -> http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/768
i can add additional notes into that if it was what you were referring to

Okay, figured it out. Forgot to do BINARY on the FTP command line, so I think it was transferring the bin files over as text, which was corrupting them and the system was protecting itself.
I'd recommend that the firmware documents make a note of this when using FTP...
