Brand New SMT-1500 failing self test.

Just bought a brand new SMT-1500. It is failing self tests saying the batteries need to be replaced. I tried again after the batteries had fully charged again and it passed. Now it is failing again, batteries before self test showing 100%, after 15 second self test they are down to 25% and they fail.

Ive worked on a lot of Smart UPS in the 1500 range and I've never heard one as loud as this one on battery power. It is an extremely loud buzzing sound when the inverter is on. This is with the UPS loaded at about 20%.

I bought this last week from Fry's should I try to troubleshoot to find the issue or just have it swapped for a different one. I would really rather not tear everything down again to get to the ups behind my desk.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Phone support in your country, they will grab the logs and get you to do some tests, it wont take long and as it sounds fubar they will directly ship you a replacement then collect the duff one.
