I have a APC 5U unit that I recently just powered on from sitting on the shelf and it work for a day without load.
I powered it all off and moved to a new location and now It won't power on at all no light nothing. I let it set for a while and it will come one show what to be a battery problem the shut itself off. I don't have enough time to get into the hyperterm to look at anything. Any tricks or something I am doing wrong here? Getting frustrated with this due to the amount of $$ put into this project. Any help would be appreciated.

You're problem could be that you are plugging ANY serial cable into the unit, whereas you need to plug an APC 'smart-signalling' cable into the unit.

Not sure what I did but I got it working to where it will power on and no errors. BUT yeah there is always a but. Whenever I plug ANY serial cable into the 5u it immediately shuts off. I have to chance to terminal into the box. I have a nic card on the device but its never been setup so it has no ip address to go that way. Wild why the other kills the whole thing. if you unplug t he cable it powers right back up.
