5kVA UPS Self-Test Issue

Dear experts,

I'm having some issues with self-test on my 5kVA Online UPS.

I wanted to disable automatic self-test and have done so via NMC interface. After monitoring for a period of time I noticed that from time to time Self-Test was automatically perform.

I noticed output being turned off for no reason:

29.10.2012 04:18:24 UPS: The output power is turned off.
29.10.2012 04:18:24 UPS: aborted via front panel due to invalid state a self-test.
29.10.2012 04:18:23 UPS: Started a self-test.

There are times, self-test being performed twice a day.

11.10.2012 09:17:18 UPS: passed via management device a self-test.
11.10.2012 09:17:11 UPS: Started a self-test.
11.10.2012 09:16:27 UPS: passed via management device a self-test.
11.10.2012 09:16:18 UPS: Started a self-test.

My UPS Model: SURTD5000RMXLI

NMC Model: AP9631

Name: sumx
Version: v5.1.6

Name: aos
Version: v5.1.6

Name: bootmon
Version: v1.0.2

Urgently in need of help !

can you give me the first several digits of the serial number on these UPSs so i know how old they are? i.e. something like JS1035. In the NMC, this is located under UPS tab->About. i also would like the UPS firmware from this screen.

I asked someone on the UPS side about this and they said:

In looking through the logs, the UPS is definitely not actually switching to battery for them. And the only time it appears that it actually turned off the load was during a legit input power issue when it eventually drained the batteries. I would STRONGLY suggest leaving self test enabled as it can lead to swollen batts, dropped loads, etc - All kinds of bad things.
the next thing is to see how old the UPS/batteries are. if they are not the original batteries, can you tell me how old they are?

my thought is its either erroneous messages or potential quick transfers to battery and being reported as a self test. but i need the UPS age, firmware, and battery age to do anything further to investigate a root cause.

could you please provide config.ini and data.txt files as well? instructions are at FA156131 @ http://www.apc.com/site/support/index.cfm/faq/ if you need help getting the full versions. a full version of event.txt may help as well.

keep in mind, depending on your setting, the UPS can also do a self test everytime it is turned on so maybe you put "at start up" for the setting? config.ini will help me verify.
