Hi, I am working on a project with Scadapack474 and VTScada where I am using DNP3, there is an option in remoteconnect under the basic tab in the object editor which says periodic event generation. If I enable this option for every 10 seconds will it generate timestamped events every 10 seconds even if there isn't a value deviation? Also is there a way to check if events are being stored in the buffer? I do see a message saying "An Event buffer on the DNP3 Outstation has overflowed" but I'd like to see if new events are being generated. I want to troubleshoot this because I don't see events generated when the master (VTScada) loses connection with the slave (Scadapack474) backfilling in the historical data viewer. I'm testing analog objects configured with a static point class 30v5 and a non-local and non-static event class (some are 1, some 2, some 3). On VTScada im addressing the analogs like so: 30/0/1:NS for DNP3 point AI,1 etc.

Periodic Event Generation is exactly that. It will put an Event into the Event Buffer.
That you're seeing "An Event Buffer on the DNP3 Outstation has overflowed" sounds like a problem you'll want to fix though, it's likely an issue with your VTScada configuration where it's not actually retrieving the Events from the buffer successfully.
Are you testing this on a bench, or do you have it via Radio / Cellular Modem etc?
The other possibility is that you have the Event Buffer size set overly low. I'd generally recommend having this high, like 40,000... newer models accept 100,000...
However... keep in mind that if you've got a huge number of events to transfer, this will bog down your network during the transfer. And can cause problems if you have things like Max TX Keying Time enabled on certain radios (since the TX will be long.. and the radio might just disconnect before it's finished, aborting the transfer).
