Have you ever requested a diagram or display for quadrant metering? This topic will provide some examples, and what's needed to add this assistant to ION Setup!
Additional to the standard phasor diagrams included in ION Setup for reviewing voltage and current phasors. We can adjust those tabs to display quadrant information if needed! It will likely require an available arithmetic module to calculate the kW, kVAR, and kVA angles for the power circle. Then some adjustments to the QuickION file associated with your template. For customers that record quadrants individually can be useful for verification of which quadrant is active and recording during testing.
To setup the arithmetic module you’ll want to pull in the Watt, VAR, and VA values you want to use for the display. Like primary kilo-watts or secondary watts. Then the Quadrant numeric output registers from the kW Q1-4 arithmetic module. These are used to account for phase angle shifts based on quadrant. When using the arctan function it will always output a phase angle from Q1 and Q4 or 90 to negative 90 degrees. When measurements are in Q2 and Q3 you need to apply a phase shift so the kVA vector is in the right quadrant.
Also, the current phasor diagrams weren’t built with the power circle in mind. The voltage and current keys still show up. But, for customers that request a display that provides some kind of quadrant metering display the below setups can be customized within the meter.
If you would like to see this added to your Setup Assistant please reach out to your local Regional Account Manager or to technical support to see if the modules are available, and to help implement!
