Scaled option in TEST Mode has Energy counting slower than Unscaled. Is that right?

Hi people!

I'm writing a document to explain the accuracy verification procedure of ION8000 with our energy standard, and we use ION Setup to enter the TEST Mode.

I already checked the document 70072-0193-01, about ION8000 accuracy verification and ION Setup User Guide, but none say about this Scaling option.

I noticed with tests that when I use Scaling option with Scaled the LED pulsing rate is slower then when the option is set to Unscaled.

But our ratio is 1:1 for PT and 10:1 for CT, so the Scaled option should pulse 10 times faster (with the same Kt), or should not?

By the way, the Scale Rev Val in ON or OFF in Basic Setup does not make any difference to the process.

I'm using ION Setup 3.0.18075.02

Thanks in advance!

Ezequiel Maraschin

The PM8000 does not have a Test Mode by default so is this for a different device or do you do some type of custom framework to implement a separate test mode (ex. copying a ION7400 template to a PM8K for example).

The Scaling option found on most of our utility meter templates (ION86xx,ION7400) allow for users to test meters which have been programmed with scaled PT/CT ratios and not require them to change them to 1:1 for testing (and then have to remember to change them back after testing is finished).

The boolean is primarily whether to use the PT/CT ratios as programmed (OFF is not scaled so PT/CT ratios are ignored and pulsing is based on MU readings instead of scaled ones).

The Scale Rev Params is only for revenue readings (Data Recording, energy totalization) as then most revenue readings are unscaled (while PQ would be scaled) as MV-90 would have its own scaling of MU readings separately.

Hi Robert!

Sorry if I mispronounced, where I said ION8000 I meant the ION86X0 and ION8x00 series.

And I think I got what you said.

So when I enable the Scaled option, I got the 1:1 readings in energy totalization.

If is that, so you answered my question.
