Hello everyone,
Another feature we are bringing with the new PM8000 v1.4.1 firmware is a new functionality called "ION over Modbus". This functionality was developed to facilitate PM8xx retrofit in serial networks. Below you can find the links for a short introductory presentation, a technical bulletin and a knowledge base article:
Presentation: PM8000 - ION over Modbus.pptx - Box
Technical bulletin: ION over Modbus communications for PM8000 and ION7400 series meters

In order for the feature to work, PME needs to be updated with the latest cumulative update (CU1). Link can be found here: PME 8.2 CU1 - Box

Thanks and let's attack our installed base!!

Good day
Has anyone tested ION over Modbus with ION7650 and ION9000's gateway?

Hello,
Yes IoM was tested using the ION7650 as the Modbus Gateway.
The implementation on the ION7650 of the Modbus TCP to Modbus RTU gateway has significant delays (500mS per frame) built in to prevent possible CPU overloading. This results in compromised comm performance and slow performance when using IoM to a PM8000 due to the amount of data on the PM8000. I would not recommend using the ION7650 as the Modbus gateway if it can be avoided.
Testing of the ION9000 (and PM8000) as a Modbus Gateway for IoM has been done and performance is the same as all the other Schneider Electric Gateways.
