PM8000 Alert Module seemingly not functioning

Hi, I am trying to test a PM8000 email alert functionality, but am seeing a strange result with the Alert Module.

I have connected a Ext Pulse Module that I am pulsing via a Vista Control which is linked to the Alert Module input Trigger.  I have set up the SMTP server in the Meters Ethernet configuration, and have seemingly configured the Alert Modules setup registers appropriately.

I have pulsed the input numerous times, but am seeing not result or change in the output registers of the Alert Module.  To be transparent, I am not completely confident the SMTP server will accept comms on port 25 and with no credential authentication, so not entirely surprised that I am not receiving an email, however it is odd that the Alert Module is not updating the outputs.

Hello @Nicholas_Brown  and @RobGraham

Testing with a meter connected directly to my PC I was able to confirm that the Alert module can update outputs. Depending on setting in the Ethernet comm module the time it would take to update a fail may take a while.

If you are still having trouble with this, I would suggest a managed switch with port mirroring to monitor the traffic from the meter to the SMTP server to confirm, A) did meter connect to and send info to SMTP server, B) If something failed what is going wrong.

Regards,

Charles

I don't have anything useful to contribute, but I tested this on two different meters.  On firmware v3.1, I get a Fail pulse as expected after the timeout period.  On v4.5, I get nothing, the same as you.

Thank you both.  @Charles_Murisonnot implying it might operate differently, however, it would be interesting to know the FW version of the meter you tested on.  Thanks.
