Hi,
I have a few questions regarding exporting of alarms and datalogs from PM8240.
In a site without PME, can PM8000 send alarms and data logs to a 3rd party system (for eg: BMS or SCADA)?
What is the format of the datalog native export?
What are the comms protocol that PM8000 supports to export the data to such 3rd party systems(e.g FTP, Modbus etc)?
Thanks,
Sekher

Hello @SekherNK ,
Regarding datalogs there are only 2 ways to export from the meter. The first is to use propriety protocol called ION with software such as ION Setup, Power Monitoring Expert or Power Operation.
The second option is with a module called Log Export module. Refer to ION Reference for more details. In Summary the meter will send email with log data attached as an xml file.
It may be possible to transfer Alarm state with modbus however alarm data that you would see from meter's front panel only supported with ION protocol.
Regards,
Charles

Hi Charles,
Following on from this I have a PM8000 setup and have configured it to send emails to a local SMTP server (in this case I have setup Mailslurper on a local machine in same subnet as meter) when frequency events are recorded.
The emails are getting sent however the emails being received by Mailslurper do not have an XML file attached. They instead have mainly timestamps in them as per the screenshot. The data recorders setup to be captured have Freq, Voltage and kW from Power Meter module. If I do a manual Data Recorders Collect through Ion Setup Assistant I can see that data recorder is capturing data correctly in the xml file.
This may be an issue with how Mailslurper decodes the emails but was wondering if there is anything I should check on the PM8000 configuration side to make sure the data is attached as an XML file? In particular potentially in the Log Export modle under 'Setup Registers' there is a field 'Attachment Extention' which defaults to MMA.
Finally when configuring an smtp email send on a PM8000 can credentials be added so that a secure email is sent?

Hello @ausfrosty
"when configuring an smtp email send on a PM8000 can credentials be added so that a secure email is sent?" No only simple SMTP is supported at this time.
"anything I should check on the PM8000 configuration side to make sure the data is attached as an XML file?" Should not have to. Note that file extension may be .mma, however the contents of the file will be xml. I have never used that mail program so I do not know what is done with attachments.
I have done packet capture files in the past so I know the data is sent from meter to SMTP server as an attached file.
Regards
Charles
