A client asks me why he does not have to use a password when making changes to the alarmes of a PM5561 with ION Setup?

Most of the PM5000 series of the device do not extend their password security to communications (unlike most of our more advanced ION products). There are a few protected functions (like upgrading a PM5000 which requires the top level user logon/password) but otherwise the only requirement is that the software is able to grab the semaphore (which essentially is a token to prevent multiple clients from making modifications at the same time which includes the front panel) when issuing any of the protect commands which allow users to configure/control the device remotely.
Adding security to the actual device would require firmware changes and then subsequent ION Setup changes as well to support that change.
