As PM6 series meter becomes native device in SPM, we need a tool to config the on-board log of PM650, since that is where SPM gets all the metering data. Right now, only SMS or PMCU, which we try to get ride of, can do this.
Understand that PM6s have been obsoleted for a long long time. Even I was surprised about their large existence when I found about half of 200+ meters system were PM6 (mainly PM650) in a SMS2SPM job I recently worked on. Just like the new native PM6 driver in SPM, I believe it is worth being supported by ION Setup either.

I've been trying to add old legacy support for these older products whenever I have a few days available but its very slow going. With that said, the latest version does have most of the configuration screens available and the device is available in the supported device list.
Download the latest version and give it a try and if you find any issues let me know and I'll take a look at it if I get some available time.

Robert,
I tried the newest release V3.0.14052.02 on the FTP site, and it works with PM6. Coudl we go one step ahead to add the function to config the "on-board alarm" for PM650?
Also, the on-board log is only available to PM650, should we remove it from "Default" display template (everything except PM650)?

The "Default" folder is the one which is set by ION Setup initially and is only used when it can't tell what type of device it is. If for example a newer model came out (ex. PM680 with more features), then the software defaults to show the maximum available features (but just won't support the newer features). This is why all the "Default" folders contain the identical device setup files as the highest model (assuming any new models which come along will have more features than less).
The Default folder shouldn't be used unless ION Setup isn't properly determining the type of device its communicating to (when it is presently set to Default, it will always try to override this setting by talking to the device and seeing if it matches what it think it should be set to). If its set to Default and the device is a PM620 actually, then it should switch to the PM620 folder automatically every time (if not, then I'm not determining the PM620 correctly or its sending something back I'm not expecting). In this case, you should let me know the details.
I'll see about adding the On-Board Alarm configuration but as I said before its very slow going as everything has to be reverse engineered, coded and go through some preliminary testing (and I have no means to do any real extensive testing).

Robert,
Thanks for the elaboration, it makes sense now. In my case, I believe it must be related to the installation/upgrade. On the target machine, there were a old copy of ION Setup V3, and I just did an "upgrade" using V3.0.14052.02 installer. The result: some templates did not created. For example, under "CM2000" folder, I only got "CM2450" and "Default", and I had to create copies of "CM2450" and rename them to "CM2150", "CM2250"... to accommodate all CM2 meters on the site.
I just tried again on a VM, where I uninstalled the old ION Setup first, and did a fresh new installation, this time everything showed up correctly including all CM2s and PM6s. I don't have access to the target machine now, when I do I will definitely check out the behavior for PM6 again.

Hi Ganesh,
I have an almost identical PM650 in my office connected to my 7650 Modbus Gateway (a little older Display firmware but otherwise almost identical) and have no issues communicating to the meter.
Are you sure you have the proper device type defined and what selection is selected beneath the Display tab on the device properties?

I've uploaded a new version (V3.0.14185.01) on Box which should fix the PM6xx data log setup issues. I've also added Meter Configuration report for the PM6xx as well.

New version now available (3.0.14192.02) on Box which which has added a new set of registers for both Alarm/Data Log which will show Log Memory used (by that log) and Available Memory remaining (unused). This will also limit what will be allowed to be set for the depth of the log and the # of parameters for data log #1 (which will only indicate that you have exceeded the allowable memory). You may need to do trial & error to figure out how many registers each combination of parameters uses to maximize allocation (you will have to reduce depth/parameters in order to allow changes).
