In the ION8600 meter, is it possible to add a delay in the Sag/Swell Module? A customer wants to trigger a sag/swell alarm only if the voltage falls below 80% of nominal for 80ms or more. As I understand it, the Sag/Swell module does not allow for any delay, and the Relative Setpoint Module does not operate at a high enough speed to monitor Sag/Swells. Is this accurate? Are there any workarounds? Before we tell the customer that we can't do it, I want to make sure we've covered all of our bases. Thanks!

Hi Daniel,
As far as I can see only the normal Setpoint Module would work here. TheSag/Swell, Signal Limit Evaluation, and Disturbance Analyzer modules all are value driven with no time filter. As you mentioned the Relative Setpoint no longer runs in high speed mode.
I would argue though that the solution is not at the device level but at the reporting level. Since the "standard" PQ report has to analysis for event duration anyway shouldn't it possible to modify it so that there is a filter where min event time could be used and the report ignores short duration events ?
Sounds like something for et al.

Doing this at the reporting level also has the advantages that:
- only a single location in the system needs to be configured (the SW) instead of all the devices individually
- it is easy to change the threshold in the future (and retroactively if necessary) to reduce or increase the sensitivity of the system to PQ events
Generally, when an ION module is connected to a High Speed register (like a output from Sag/Swell module) then the module will run at high speed. There are exceptions though where the module will only run at the "low speed" or one second execution period regardless of the types of inputs. Unfortunately I am not familiar enough with the specific modules above to know if they are one of the exceptions or not.
