If ION Setup or PME attempts to communicate to the ION 7650 using the wrong password, it will result in Auth FAIL entries as shown in your global event viewer. In Management Console, you can set what password is used by right clicking the device.

Hi Kim - as Art describes, PME will use the configured password for unattended interactions with the meter - perhaps you are doing some distributed control operations with the VIP? In this case, the software needs to know the password to supply for these write operations. It could also be someone entering the wrong password in Vista or Designer as well, but given the short time between the timestamps in your graphic, it seems to indicate the software is attempting the write operation.

Dear Tom!!
This is automatically meter password change or not apply to password.
In my thinking this is serious quality issue. In this case 2016 year 8 times experience(ION7650)
My country of the Schneider electric persion say this device only check the canada factory.
But ION7650 setup point very important and complicated
Anyone say how to solve this problem clearly.

Hi Kim - it is just an audit of failed attempts, but no change to the password itself. I would suggest routing through tech support to alleviate any concerns.
