Hi everyone,
I am having some difficulty in obtaining some harmonics measurements from the ION 9000 meters. The ION 9000 in question are all in DEMO mode. The meters are not recording anything for Voltage/Current THD and K-factor mean values, whereas they record zero for Voltage/Current THD and K-Factor High values. I have attached a Power Monitoring Expert Vista diagram that shows the problem. I have enabled IEEE 519 Harmonics Monitoring and EN50160 Power Quality Monitoring. There is also a PM8000 meter logging data accurately - all harmonics are being logged (this meter is also in DEMO mode). Is the issue due to some setup configuration in Power Monitoring Expert, or the meter itself? Does the ION 9000 have any issues like this because of DEMO mode? Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jerry

Harmonics (among many other PQ features) are not really implemented for DEMO mode. If I remember correctly, the harmonics related modules revert to 4WYE mode if volts-mode is set to DEMO (ie. they measure the signal on the inputs).
Since distortion is usually measured as a ratio (% of fundamental, or % of 'MaxDemand'), the divide by zero with no signal connected will result in the report showing "N/A" data.

Hello Jerry,
I would work backwards for something like this. I will assume that PME is able to upload any logs on the device (can be configured to skip certain recorders is configured to do so (very unlikely but something to check).
First does the meter have Harm mean Log data recorder module?
Is the module enabled, is module online? (ION Setup will show red X on modules offline) External Boolean Harm Log Enable for enable on my meter.
Does the module have inputs linked?
Do the inputs have N/A?
In ION Setup, go to advanced mode and connect to the data recorder. At the output tab, Hold <crtl> and left click the "Harm mean log" -> Read Value.
Select a range that will return 15 or less records, for example 1855 to 1864. (Actual values will depend on where the meter log position is at)
If you get results then the issue is likely not with the Meter but with PME getting the data into the data which is a very different problem.

Hello
Found a meter that I can put in demo mode. If you trace inputs to the THD measurement you will find an Arithmetic module where inputs are 0 but calculation is S1/S2 for example, device by 0 results in N/A so data recorder has nothing to log.

Just connect AC supply to all Voltage input then use mode 4WY the PT ratio is 1 (as default).
Demo mode will not give harmonics value.
