Hi Guys.. We have tested the ION 7650 meter as a Modbus master to interrogate an M221 PLC (slave device) using both methods: 1.) Modbus Import Module and 2) Modbus Master Device Module along with the Modbus Master Map Module.. Also tried it using both ethernet and serial media (ethernet and COM1 ports)
The ION Meter for some reason does not read modbus registers from this M221 PLC (reference TM221CE24R)
Additional information:
1. Tried with two different M221 units (same reference).. and with two different versions of firmware for the M221 (latest and previous to latest)
2. We scanned the M221 with different Modbus Testers having no problem what so ever to read modbus registers with these testers (CAS, AXON Tester)..
3. Also tested the ION 7650 with a Twido PLC and had no problem getting to read modbus registers.
4. Also tested the ION 7650 with a N38 recloser controller (ADVC2 /CAPE) and had no problem getting to read modbus registers.. However for a reason we cant yet understand the ION 7650 can pull data from the M221 via Modbus..
Since the M221 responds as a modbus slave device to all the modbus testers we concluded that the issue seems to be a problem of the ION 7x50 meters, particularly with the M221 PLCs.
Has anyone had this issue.. I appreciate your insight.
Thanks,

Hi Emilio,
Similar questions has been raised to the technical support team, and the engineering team on both ION meter and M221 PLC are working together to understand what caused such behavior.
Please contact the technical support team in your area and mention this post along with my name, so we can track it along with the other case and get a response sent to you once we have concluded the investigation.
I believe Panama reaches out to PMO tech support, so you can use the address pmo-tech-support@schneider-electric.com to contact them,
Regards,
Fabricio

What is your polling interval ? For some devices you cannot let the module poll data at default of 1 sec. they might respond too slow. Try to add periodic timer module set interval to at least 5 sec. to control polling then try again(I got experience from using external I/O board).
