How to Recover PM8000 from Download State

Trying to update a PM8000 to the latest PM8000_V001.004.001.upg firmware. The meter appears to be stuck in download state and will not take the firmware update. Anyone know how to get it to accept a firmware update?

In this case, you have a developmental version of the PM8000 firmware (indicated by the 000.xxx.yyy firmware version), which I assume you are using to test a per-release feature. Each PM8000 firmware has cyber-security digital signature which is validated by the firmware to prevent tampering of the firmware and is rejected only at the end of the firmware upgrade process.

In order to move from developmental firmware to actual released firmware, a special firmware upgrade file must be used (and once you've transitioned to released firmware, there is no way to download developmental firmware without additional hardware).
