Firmware Upgrade ION9000T

Hi,

I'm currently attempting to perform a firmware upgrade on an ION9000T at a customer site.

According to the documentation, it should be possible to upgrade directly from version V003.000.000 to V004.005.000. However, the upgrade is failing, as shown in the attached screenshots.

I have also attempted intermediate upgrades to V003.001.000 and V004.000.000, but encountered the same issue.

Could you please advise on how to proceed?

Hello @Nikolaj_Johansen_Retired ,

I recommend contacting your local technical support to get a case started. Screenshots are good, video better. There is also a windows tool called problem step recorder that can show what was clicked or typed for around 30 steps, this could be helpful to show each step.

Regards,

Charles

As complementary information on this topic, thanks to @Robert_Lee and with regards to the error message:

"Existing firmware does not support this file type"

Mehran_Mehrnia_4-1756244745644.png

It was discovered that the ION9000 was not defined as an ION9000 within ION Setup, but rather as an ION8650. This occurred because the customer was unable to see the file 'ION9000_V004.005.000.upx' when the dialog window titled 'Open ION Upgrade File' was opened.

For ION9000, PM8000 and ION7400 devices, it will show UPx as one of the available options:

Dialog Window name: Open ION Upgrade file

Mehran_Mehrnia_0-1756244433293.png

For non ION9000, PM8000 and ION7400 devices (ex. like an ION8650), it will show:

Dialog Window name: Open ION8650 firmware file

Mehran_Mehrnia_1-1756244475588.png

So, meter should be defined as ION9000 within ION Setup and not ION8650:

Mehran_Mehrnia_2-1756244519223.png

ION Setup device type must match what the actual device is and also what is in the firmware upgrade file.

Aside from the above modification, the customer was able to complete the firmware upgrade using direct device login (Single ION Device).

Best Regards,

-Mehran

Hello @Nikolaj_Johansen_Retired ,

Are you able to try upgrading only the firmware? Hold down <CTRL> and click on the upgrade button in ION Setup.

Regards,

Charles

Hi @Charles_Murison

I still get the same error. Existing firmware does not support this file. I have tried with 3.1.0, 4.0.0 and 4.5.0.

Is there some Ports there have to be open or something during upgrading?

Regards.
