I cannot speak to the software as I have never used this software before. In general for something to connect via TCP/IP Ethernet requires a 3 point handshake. Software sends a connection request, the device sends a respond, the software sends an acknowledge. If any one of these does not happen, the connection is not made. It could be devices are offline, it could be the connection request does not get to the device (networking configurations), the device does not accept the connection, the device sends a response but does not get to the software etc.
Cannot determine from the description alone. Will want to troubleshoot the communications first.
