Hi Xperts,
Just want to ask, if a PM8240 is connected to a PAS800L (serial connection with other meters on Modbus RTU protocol), can I still plug my laptop to the meter's ethernet port and add the meter to ION setup in order to download all historical data? Data sampling is activated in the Panel Server therefore I can grab the data from there as well however some required data might not be ticked (sampled) that is why I am asking if I can grab them via ION setup without disrupting its normal operation.
The client needs to see a week long data log of power factor and THDs.
Furthermore, which parameters do I need to look at? is it the TotalRmsPowerFactor, FundThdVoltagePhsAN (B and C), FundThdCurrentPhsA (B and C).
Thanks in advance.

Please note that depending on which feature set the meter has, some options are not supported. The PM8240 has a Standard feature set that does not support Flicker.
PM8000 series overview:
But as Charles mentioned, other CSV reports that are retrieved directly form the meter's onboard log(related Data Recorder), can be interpreted by PME.

Yes, ION meter such as ION7400 supports simultaneous serial and TCP communication over Modbus(PAS800) and ION(ION Setup) protocols.
Meter’s default template includes factory-configured data logs (Data Recorder modules) which can be checked in ION Setup to create a CSV report. ION Setup -> Setup Assistant -> Data Recorders
e.g Historic Average:

Hi Mehran,
Thanks for your response. I got the data CSV file from PAS800L (from site), my next question is, can I upload this CSV file to PME 2023 to generate a power quality analysis report? We have PME with Power Quality Module in our own building so I would like to take advantage of its features. How or what is the process of uploading a CSV file from a panel server to PME?
We need to generate a power quality study / report for our client.
Thanks in advance.

You're welcome.
I am not fully aware of all PME features, but I believe yes, it is possible to import csv file to PME using ETL(Extract Transfer Load) tool. [PME][Tool] PME ETL
For further assistance, I would recommend that you post your question in the PME forum.
Best Regards,
-Mehran

Hello @jedzruiz1985 ,
Note that many of the reports and gadgets in PME will assume that PME is talking to the meter directly and able to get the onboard logs. Gateway like PAS800L may have some logging however this will not match the onboard logs available in PM8000 meter. Not all features of PME will work with PAS800L exported data.

Charles

Hi Charles,
So what if we extract the data directly from the meter (PM8240) via IONsetup? Question is, which data do we need to extract from the meter to satisfy the requirement of the below clauses? Does PM 8240 capture flicker?
Thanks.

Hello @jedzruiz1985 ,
Is there a reason why the PM8000 cannot be connected directly to PME?

Charles

Hi Charles,
It will be... in the control center, however, at this time, the network infrastructure is not yet ready.
