I am working on establishing DNP communication between an SEL RTAC (client) and a brand-new PM5560 meter FW 4.1.8 (server). The meter comes online in the RTAC but frequently terminates the TCP connection.
I had an extensive troubleshooting sessions with SEL engineers, where we analyzed Wireshark captures and explored various solutions. Despite their efforts, the issue persists, and they have provided their recommendations.
“Thanks for the pcap, it shows the PM5500 requesting a TCP FIN every 25 seconds. The RTAC is responding to this FIN and sending a SYN and then communication starts again. I am not sure why the PM5500 is killing the connection.”
Line 30 above is coming from the PM5500 not the RTAC.”
I have also tried communicating the meter with the TMW Test Harness as a DNP Master and observed the frequent TCP connection lost.

Hi @SukhVirk ,
This is a known issue in the PM5560 and should be fixed in the next firmware release, expected in early March 2025.

JD

Thanks @Jesus_Diaz , Do you know the firmware version number scheduled for release in March 2025 that will address the DNP3 communication issue?

Hello,
I don't have official confirmation yet, but I think it could be 4.4.x.

Hi @Jesus_Diaz
Currently we have firmware v 4.1.8 installed in the meters. Can I install v 4.4.5 directly or should I install the recent firmware v 4.2.1 first and then the latest v 4.4.5?
