Control Action Error on PME for PM8000

Hi There,

I was trying to enable Sag/Swell Detection on an existing PM8000 meter I have on site. I was prompted with the login information, I entered the credentials correctly and then i received an "Control Action Error"

"Cannot complete the control action. Check the system log for more information and try again"

When checking the system log, there was nothing useful.

Anyone run into this before?

Hello @radovan8 ,

If the meter has Advanced security enabled (meters with V3.0.0 firmware and newer only support advanced security enabled), PME cannot use control objects on the web diagrams. You can use Vista for the control objects or you can program the device using ION Setup.

This was by design for PME behavior.

Regards,

Charles

@Charles_Murison thank you for your quick response.

To clarify, can the Avanced Security Enabled be disabled? If so can this be disabled on site manually without the use of ION setup?

In this case, I have two identical meters at the same location, one monitoring A side of a main tie main board and one monitoring B side of the main tie main board. One of them is accepting the control objects on PME and the other is not.

Hello @radovan8 ,

This is a loaded question as it depends on the firmware of the meter. Meter's with Firmware Version 3.0.0 and newer, no you cannot disable advanced security. With V3.0.0 and newer you can enabled Legacy Security support, this is not the same as disabling advanced security.
With really older firmware, V2.2.0 and older, yes you can disable advanced security.

You might be able to configure the sag/swell via Vista rather than Web diagrams.

Regards,

Charles
